Our funny little kiddos

So...these silly kiddos of ours have been very into "character" lately.  The acting out of stories use to be all Ellie and Jack was just along for the ride.  However, Jack has crossed over and is fully into being characters.  He plays an excellent baby, Jake, Super hero, and patient.  While Ellie's leading roles are Kitty, Izzy, Doc, Sam Sparks, and of course Anna.  All of this leads up to the pictures I've had in reserve for a not so exciting week.  We've been plenty busy, but not with any exciting adventures away from home.

This little game of doctor was all started by Jack claiming he wasn't feeling well,
he was pretend coughing and was using a tissue.

All of this was going on while I was getting dinner ready,
and I was listening, thinking how wonderful it was they were playing so sweet.

Then I walked over and noticed they had colored all over each other's faces.
When I asked if Jack had a rash or something in the game Ellie said, "no, we just wanted to color on each other."

Miss Ellie was being a queen and had made a throne of pillows.

And here the super hero duo comes!

This particular day Jack was in character most of the day.

He wore his superhero gear to take Ellie to school and to the store.
He had lots of admirers, and he came to my rescue when I had some runaway produce.
I think he made a lot of people smile!

Super Jack to the rescue!
(like his pink high heels, those were just for at home)

Ellie has decided that the days she goes to school she needs to have a necklace and bracelet to wear.
So we did a little inventory on her jewels and she told me she needed me to take a picture. So Jack had to
get in on the action too.  He thought he was so funny.

He's even a superhero in his dreams!

Great Friends = Great Time

This weekend we had so much fun showing our friends around the National Parks near us and seeing the Huskers up close and personal!  I didn't bring the camera along with me to the game but we had quite the memorable experience.  It was a scorcher, but we had great seats and were surrounded by friendly fans.  Amy and I have a whole new appreciation for the players after going to that game!

First stop Kings Canyon National Park to see the Sequoias

Day 2 Yosemite National Park

This trip we actually made it further into
Yosemite to find this gem of a spot to picnic at and cool off.

There should be a waterfall roaring in the background but thanks to
the drought we missed out, maybe next time!

I'm surprised we didn't have any injuries with all the sticks discovered.

Jeff does a much better job of showing off our weekend adventures, he is one talented guy!

Morro Rock Beach

Our big Labor Day plans were driving to Morro Bay to see Morro Rock and spend the day at the beach.  We started off our adventure by walking through the downtown and checking out the view of Morro Rock from afar.  We had a little picnic right next to Morro Rock and did some Sea Otter watching before heading to the beach.  It wasn't our favorite beach to date but the views of Morro Rock made up for the not so great sand.  I think we got spoiled by the our last ocean trip and the super soft white sand at Carmel beach.  Looking at the kids as we were leaving it just looked more like they had been rolling around in the mud.  Needless to say the kids didn't seem to mind a bit and had a blast at the beach, as always.  We loved the chance to get away, enjoy the views, and take in the sight and sound of the ocean waves crashing in!

Ellie was telling us she could see the whole Earth through the telescope.

Jack made a spyglass of his own to check out the sea otters.

Then he took to the skies scoping out the pelicans and sea gulls,
we were laughing but he meant business.

Ellie found some sand dollars right off the bat
but they weren't worth hanging on to.

We brought Ellie's kite and the kids were amazed to see it flying high.
