A Little Tea Party Fun

This week we had a fun little activity to plan for.  We invited a friend over for a tea party.  We enjoyed preparing all week getting various supplies we needed. By the time the big day arrived the kids were waiting on pins and needles for their guest to arrive.  It was a big hit and the kids had a ball!  Our weekend fun, was finally making it to one of the local stops on our list the Forestiere Underground Gardens.  The pictures Jayson took just don't do it justice.  Plus, we were so interested in hearing all the tour guide was telling us we were a little distracted.  It was amazing and the kids loved that we were going through tunnels.  We topped off our evening with a firework show at the water park near our house.  We'd been meaning to go check it out and it was a surprisingly good show.  Jack kept yelling, "Ooo, those my favorite."  Ellie just loved how, "sparkly" they were.

Putting our crafty hands to use...

We decorated teapots to line the sidewalk.

Our two projects, were Mad Hatter party hats and edible tea cups.

Jack wanted nothing to do with decorating a hat.

Time for Tea...

Once we made the hats we got to work on the edible tea cups!

They turned out so cute.

Jack will get  his boy play date in due time.

I finally got her to model her hat for me once the play date was over.

Our little snack was perfect!
Our sweet little guest Addison didn't want to leave which I thought was a great sign she had fun!

 Forestiere Underground Gardens...

Our first stop the Trinity Garden that was shaped like a triangle with 3 different citrus trees.

Some of the trees had been grafted to grow more than one kind of fruit.

Grape vines were all intertwined above us.

The trees would grow up and out of these skylights he created.

I could not imagine one man digging this on his own without modern day tools!

Thankfully the kiddos did good about staying close.

This place was just so amazing to see.

It felt much cooler in the tunnels.

It was one of those tours that was so interesting it felt like it was only 15 minutes when it had really been an hour.

The crazy thing about most of these picture is, it doesn't even look like we are underground level, but we are.

The kiddos did a really good job about not picking up anything
which was mentioned in the beginning.
They are nature hoarders, so I was very proud of them!

Back Home...

Jack and Ellie were playing dog and cat, Jack told Ellie to put him in the cage.
Ralphie did not like them in his space!

Ellie informed us she needed to practice her hula hoop.

She's getting pretty creative at keeping the hula hoop up longer!

Our first family selfie waiting for the fireworks!

  1. Oh, what a treat to see all your adventures. The tea party should be written up in a magazine! But not many moms would go to all the work that you do. Lucky kiddos! Can't wait to be together again.
