Sticking close to home

No excursions this weekend.  We got invited to a pool party that kept us home and excited for a social gathering.  The whole family had a blast, kiddos had friends to play with and Jayson and I had great new people to get to know.  You know it went well, when as you are walking out the door there is talk about what we will be doing the next time we get together.  For the women starting a Bunco group is in the works and the guys were talking dark beer and sports.  We all went home with smiles on our faces...(well, maybe not the kids because they didn't want to leave).

 Pirate treasure hunt...

Since the kiddos are always acting out Jake and the Neverland Pirates I decided to come up with a little treasure hunt for them with some obstacles. Even though it was very impromptu and little, it was a success as they kept going through.  They would pretend to fall in the hot lava and need to be rescued, step on a frog and turn into one so we would have to come up with a way to turn them back to normal or pretend the spider was coming for them.  I love how they let their imaginations run wild!
(I apologize for the diaper boy, it's been hot.  He's got the right idea!)
First head through hot lava falls!
Stay on the rocks, next stop was Frog Lake
and finally crawl through Sticky's Spider web.

My cute little Pirate Izzy doesn't go anywhere without her pixie dust!

Once they found the treasure they had to count all their gold doubloons and jewels.

Typically the kiddos do a great job just using their imaginations when
we play pirates but I thought this might be a fun change of pace.

Kitchen Table Shuffleboard...

Decorating their "discs" for the game.

I have been wanting to do this with the kiddos for
a while now but I  had to save up the caps.

Jack was really good, or it may have been the fact
that he would practically crawl on top of the table

They played so many rounds I lost count.

Jack's on the table again racking up the points!

Jayson challenged me to a round and to his big surprise I was the winner. With  his competitive streak I expected him to want a rematch, I guess he knew better!
